Services & Counselling
Tailored options for your legal and spiritual journey
Civil & Islamic Marriage
Our comprehensive dual marriage ceremony ensures that your union meets the legal guidelines of the Australian Government (under the Marriage Act 1961) while satisfying all essential parameters for a valid Islamic Nikah contract. Sheikh Hisham Gad oversees the preparation and lodgment of the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form, sights required birth and identity documents, performs the bilingual sermon (Khutbah), coordinates the verbal consent and vows, and registers the marriage with the Western Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. You receive a legally recognized Civil Marriage Certificate and an official Islamic Nikah Certificate.
Islamic Nikah Only
Officiating your wedding strictly in accordance with traditional Islamic rites (Arkan al-Nikah). Sheikh Hisham Gad will guide you through the religious prerequisites, including verifying the bride's Wali (guardian) consent, arranging the agreed-upon Mahr (dowry gift), and supervising the verbal contract signatures by two adult Muslim male witnesses. A bilingual wedding sermon containing selections from the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah will be delivered. You will be presented with a decorative Islamic Nikah Certificate. Note: This ceremony is not legally registered with the Australian state.
Civil Registration Only
Designed for couples who have already completed their traditional Islamic Nikah (either in Australia or overseas) and now require formal legal registration under Australian civil guidelines. Sheikh Hisham Gad manages the civil paperwork, starting with the mandatory one-month waiting period after lodging the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form, verifying original passport and birth certificates, and conducting the legal civil vows in the presence of two witnesses.
Prospective Spouse Visas
If you are sponsoring your partner or fiancรฉ under the Prospective Spouse Visa (Subclass 300) to enter Australia, you must provide official celebrant proof of your intent to marry. Sheikh Hisham Gad registers your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) and issues the required certified Celebrant Support Letter for the Department of Home Affairs or Australian Embassy. If your partner is currently overseas, we coordinate all document signatures remotely.
Relationship Counselling
Construct relationship foundations or resolve marital disputes with professional counselling and arbitration services. Sheikh Hisham Gad combines theological Islamic guidance with practical counselling techniques and community welfare frameworks. Sessions cover pre-marital planning, expectations, and family communication, available 7 days a week by appointment.
Islamic Wills (Wasiyyah)
Ensure your estate is divided according to the Shariah inheritance laws (Surah Al-Nisa) rather than secular Western Australian state rules. Sheikh Hisham Gad assists in compiling legally binding Islamic Wills (Wasiyyah) that satisfy both Australian legal probate standards and religious guidelines, protecting your heirs from hardship.
Marriage Legals & Guidelines
Understanding required paperwork and ceremony sequences
โ๏ธ Australian Civil Marriage Requirements
- Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM): The law requires that you sign and lodge the official Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form with the celebrant at least one calendar month before your ceremony date. The form remains valid for up to 18 months.
- Legal Age Limits: The minimum age for marriage in Australia is 18. An underage marriage (for someone aged 16-18 marrying an adult) requires a Judge or Magistrate's permission alongside parental consent.
- Identity and Birth Documentation: Citizens born in Australia must provide an original birth certificate (note: Australian passports are not accepted as primary proof for citizens born in Australia). Citizens born outside Australia must show a foreign passport or birth certificate translated into English by a certified NAATI translator. If these documents are unavailable, the Celebrant can prepare a Statutory Declaration explaining the absence.
- Prior Dissolutions: If either party has been married before, they must present legal evidence of how the marriage ended (original Divorce Certificate/Decree Absolute or Death Certificate).
- Civil Witnesses: Two adult witnesses aged 18 or older must be present at the ceremony to witness and sign the registers.
๐ Islamic Marriage (Nikah) Requirements
- Identification Check: Valid photo identity cards or passports for the bride, groom, and witnesses must be provided.
- Bride's Wali (Guardian): Consent and presence of the bride's representative (father, grandfather, brother, or paternal uncle) are required. If no Wali is available, the Imam can act in this capacity.
- Mahr (Bridal Dowry): Agreement on the bridal gift (Mahr) given by the groom to the bride at the time of the wedding.
- Marital Status: Documentation showing the legal and religious dissolution of any previous marriages.
- Nikah Witnesses: Two adult male Muslim witnesses must be present to witness the signing of the Nikah contract.

Meetings & Consultations
First Meeting: We will sit together to fill out the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) form and lodge it. During this session, we also book the date, time, and venue (which can be updated later if needed). Sheikh Hisham will address any questions and guide you on the planning steps.
Second Meeting: Before the ceremony, we meet to handle all final paperwork, rehearse the wedding procedures and vows, and plan visual arrangements like seating, certificate fonts, and specific cultural requests. For simple, "No Fuss" ceremonies, this step can be bypassed.
The Ceremony Sequence
- Khutbah Ul-Iftitaah: The beautiful opening sermon in Arabic and English.
- Marriage Sermon: Spiritual advice based on the Quran and Sunnah.
- Ijab and Qabul: Exchanging formal vows of proposal and acceptance.
- Supplication (Dua): Seeking blessings for the couple.
- Rings & Mahr: Exchanging rings or presenting the bridal dowry.
- Speeches: Special requests or messages from family members.
- Signatures: Exchanging signatures on civil and Islamic registers.
- Presentation: Presenting the couple with their marriage certificates.

Immigration-compliant letters and registrations
Official Celebrant Support for Visas
Sponsoring a partner under the Prospective Spouse Visa (Subclass 300) requires official declaration of your intent to marry. The Australian Department of Home Affairs mandates a letter from a registered marriage celebrant confirming the lodgment of the NOIM.
Sheikh Hisham Gad regularly issues these official verification letters along with copy-certified NOIM forms. If both parties are currently overseas, the entire process can be conducted via email and telephone, ensuring deadlines are met in line with visa applications.

Prepare a Legally Recognized Wasiyyah
Dying intestate (without a will) in Australia means your estate is distributed according to default state laws, which are entirely secular and differ from Shariah inheritance guidelines. This can lead to court delays, higher taxes, and disputes.

โ Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim
